Complaints Policy
The DfE has updated their guidance for school's complaint policies to say that governors are not expected to handle new or existing complaints while schools are closed. Schools are, however, still encouraged to engage with pupils and parents throughout this period, something we would strive to do at Cadbury Heath.
It is for the chair and the headteacher to consider how best to respond to a complaint during this period. An initial written response from the headteacher to:
- Outline the school’s position, for example if the complaint is about a child not getting a place because the school determined that the parent was not a ‘critical worker’, the headteacher would explain how the decision was made, and secondly
- Explain that the parent can follow up if they wish but the current situation means that the school cannot follow its usual complaints procedure until it reopens.
